This recipe is quick to make and tastes delicious with French or Italian bread sticks or any bread that works with an oil dip. I use dried herbs for this recipe, mostly with herbs from my garden, but chopped fresh herbs would work too--just be sure to chop them finely. Rather than using exact measurements for the recipe, I prefer to just sprinkle about a pinch of each ingredient on top of the oil in a small bowl or custard cup. Stir until the seasonings are incorporated evenly into the oil, then enjoy with your favorite bread! Add more seasoning to taste and stir occasionally.
Ingredients
About 1/2 cup of olive oil
A pinch or less of each of the following seasonings:
Garlic powder
Chives
Parsley
Basil
Rosemary
Salt
Substitutes:
Oregano ((can replace basil)
Thyme (can replace the rosemary)
Onion powder (can replace the chives)
Red pepper flakes
Fresh squeezed lemon
Here's an easy way to use herbs with cream cheese on bagles:
Spread cream cheese on a bagel. then sprinkle with dried rosemary and parsley.
Substitutions:
-dried chives, basil and oregano
-lemon pepper, dill, dried chives and garlic powder
My No-Recipe Avocado Toast
1. Spread warm toast with cream cheese (I prefer a thick bread like Italian, sourdough or rye).
2. Spread mashed avocado on top of the cream cheese (no chunks) - you only need about 1/4 of an avocado for two pieces of toast.
3 Sprinkle the avocado spread with toasted sesame seeds, garlic powder, salt, dried or chopped fresh chives OR Everything Seasoning and chopped pine nuts
So in summary, you just layer the toast with cream cheese, avocado, seasonings and nuts (optional) in that order. Be sure to use a generous amount of seasonings and enjoy!
